France's Rhône Valley remains the spiritual home of the variety, with Côtes du Rhône offering an accessible entry point into the region's wider output. Closer to home, Hawke's Bay Syrah has quietly become one of New Zealand's more interesting reds, cooler and more structured than its Australian counterpart. It pairs naturally with lamb, grilled meats, and richer vegetable dishes.
