FAQs
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is just $4.99 per case anywhere in mainland New Zealand, regardless of case size.
That includes rural addresses and the South Island, with no extra surcharge. The $4.99 fee applies to each case size displayed on the website.
How long will my delivery take?
Most orders arrive within 2–5 working days from when your order is processed.
Rural addresses can take an additional 1–2 working days. Delivery times can occasionally vary due to winery processing, courier delays, public holidays, weather or busy periods, but we will always do our best to keep things moving.
Can I track my order?
Because Stolen Cellar orders can be sent from different wineries, importers and suppliers using different courier networks, we do not currently send automatic tracking links for every order.
Most orders arrive within 2-5 working days. If your wine has not arrived after this timeframe, contact us with your order number and we will look into it for you.
Why has only part of my order arrived?
Your wine is often sent directly from the winery, importer or distributor it comes from.
If your order includes wines from more than one supplier, they may arrive in separate deliveries and on different days. Nothing has gone wrong, the rest of your order is simply making its own way to you.
Do you deliver to rural addresses?
Yes, we deliver to rural addresses throughout mainland New Zealand.
Rural delivery usually takes an extra 1–2 working days on top of our usual 2–5 working-day delivery estimate.
Do you deliver to Waiheke, Great Barrier or other islands?
Our standard delivery service is available across mainland New Zealand only.
For Waiheke, Great Barrier Island or other offshore islands, please contact us before ordering. We will let you know whether delivery can be arranged and what it will cost.
Can I collect my order?
Not at this stage.
Stolen Cellar works directly with wineries, importers and distributors around New Zealand, so orders are dispatched from their individual locations rather than a central Stolen Cellar warehouse.
Can I order by the bottle or create a mixed case?
Most wines on Stolen Cellar are sold in full supplier cases, usually 6 or 12 bottles. Customers cannot create their own mixed cases or split a standard case into individual bottles.
From time to time, we may offer selected wines by the bottle, particularly premium or limited releases. Where available, this will be clearly shown on the product page.
We may also offer pre-mixed cases put together by a winery, importer or supplier. These are ready-made selections and cannot be changed or customised, but are a great way to try a curated range of wines in one order.
Why are wines sold by the case?
Our model is built around buying wine the way wineries and importers prefer to supply it: by the case.
That means less handling, fewer warehouse costs and a more direct route from supplier to your door. In return, you get access to wines and case pricing that would be harder to offer one bottle at a time.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order.
Because suppliers often start processing orders shortly after they are placed, we cannot guarantee that changes or cancellations can be made once an order has been submitted.
Where we are able to approve a customer-requested cancellation before dispatch, a reasonable cancellation fee may apply to cover unrecoverable payment-processing, platform and administration costs.
Can I make a return?
Our wines are sourced directly from wineries, importers and distributors and are often dispatched from their own premises. This gives us access to a wider range of wines and sharper pricing, but means returns are more complex than with a conventional warehouse-based retailer. For this reason, we usually cannot arrange returns due to change of mind.
If you believe you've received a faulty wine, please contact us as soon as possible after opening it.
For more information on returns and refunds, please see our refund policy.
Are prices shown per bottle or per case?
We show the per-bottle price prominently across the site, so it is easy to compare wines at a glance.
On each product page, you will also see the full case price at the add-to-cart section. The product page clearly confirms whether the case contains 6 or 12 bottles, and your final case total is shown before checkout.
What do “Elsewhere” and “RRP” mean?
Some products display either an “Elsewhere” price or an “RRP” to help put our pricing and the potential case saving into context.
“Elsewhere” is a comparison price based on our research into what other traditional New Zealand retailers are selling the same wine for.
“RRP” is the recommended retail price supplied by the winery, importer or distributor.
Both comparison prices are shown on a per-bottle basis, while the savings figure shows the potential saving across the full case.
Wine prices can change regularly between retailers, promotions and vintages. “Elsewhere” prices are reviewed periodically, while recommended retail prices may also change over time. These figures are intended as a useful guide and may not reflect every retailer or every price available at a given time.
Why does a wine have two vintages? (i.e. Stolen Syrah 23/24)
If a wine is listed with two vintages, the winery is transitioning between vintages and you may receive either one. We only do this when the two vintages are closely comparable.
If you have a preference, please contact us and we’ll do our best to get your choice.
