Te Mata Estate Syrah 2025

Te Mata Estate Syrah is a bright, fragrant Hawke's Bay red with raspberry coulis, boysenberry and blackberry at its core, lifted by violet, pink peppercorn and cinnamon. Medium-bodied and immediately approachable, it balances generous fruit with fresh acidity and creamy, dark chocolate-like tannins, finishing long with spice and vanilla. This is polished rather than heavy Syrah, making it an easy step up for Pinot Noir drinkers and a versatile bottle for the table. Serve it with lamb koftas, venison, charred aubergine or a mushroom and salami pizza.

What the winery says

The 2025 release is brilliant crimson with a vibrant purple hue. Te Mata describes layers of raspberry coulis, boysenberry and warm blackberry syrup alongside violets, pink peppercorn, cinnamon and hints of char. The palate is soft, dense and medium-bodied, with ripe red and dark fruit, balanced acidity and creamy tannins. Lingering spice, vanilla and berry richness carry through the long finish, while the wine can continue developing in bottle for four years from harvest.
