Mount Edward Pinot Noir is an elegant, organically grown Central Otago Pinot Noir with vibrant red fruit, savoury herbs and subtle earthy spice. The long, even 2022 season produced a composed, medium-bodied wine with purity, depth and a smooth, seamless texture rather than sheer weight. Cherry and redcurrant flavours are supported by fine tannins, fresh acidity and restrained French oak, giving it immediate appeal alongside enough structure for further cellaring. A polished match for roast duck, venison, lamb, grilled salmon or earthy mushroom dishes.

What the winery says:

Cherry and bright berry aromas are joined by darker fruit, herbs and spice, leading to a silky palate with concentrated fruit and fine, supportive tannins. The long, gentle 2022 summer delivered clean, even ripening across Mount Edward's organically farmed vineyards, producing a more classically fruit-driven style. The destemmed fruit, including 25% whole bunches, was naturally fermented in open fermenters with hand plunging. The wine then matured for 11 months in French oak, including 20% new barrels, followed by three months of settling in tank. It was bottled without fining and with minimal sulphur addition.

What the experts say:

Cameron Douglas MS, 95/100, Outstanding (2022 Vintage)
"An outstanding bouquet and palate, a wine of texture and power, delicious core fruit flavours that encompass red berries and dried herbs."

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 95/100 & 5 Stars (2022 Vintage)
"Gorgeously complex and inviting, the bouquet features dark cherry, clove, dried herb, game, and roasted almond notes."
