Mud House
Mud House was founded in 1996 by John and Jennifer Joslin, a British couple who fell in love with New Zealand while sailing the world and settled in Marlborough, building their first home from the region's own rammed earth, a method that gave the winery its name. That connection to the land shaped the winery's early focus on a bright, zesty Sauvignon Blanc, the variety that first put Marlborough on the world wine map and remains the estate's signature style today.
Now owned by four families, Mud House has grown well beyond its Marlborough home, planting vineyards across several of New Zealand's most distinctive regions. These include the Woolshed vineyard locally and the high-country Claim 431 vineyard in Central Otago, alongside further plantings in Hawke's Bay and Gisborne, together reflecting the sheer diversity of the country's winegrowing landscape.
