Urlar Pinot Gris is a beautifully textured, aromatic white from the organically farmed vineyards of Gladstone in the Wairarapa. Rich aromas of ripe pear, nectarine and custard apple mingle with gentle spice and a touch of honey, leading into a generous, rounded palate. Flavours of sweet stone fruit, spiced pear, lemon curd and peach skin are complemented by subtle savoury notes and a lovely creamy texture. A fresh line of acidity keeps everything balanced, carrying through to a long, satisfying finish. With more depth and character than your typical easy-drinking Pinot Gris, it's a fantastic match for roast pork, creamy chicken dishes, Asian-inspired cuisine or a platter of soft cheeses.

What the winery says:

Produced from Urlar's organically certified Gladstone vineyards, this Pinot Gris reflects the estate's commitment to nurturing the land and allowing the fruit to express its origins. A portion of the wine is fermented using wild yeast in neutral oak puncheons, adding richness, texture and gentle complexity without pronounced oak flavours. The remainder is fermented in stainless steel to retain freshness and aromatic purity. The 2024 vintage combines ripe stone fruit character with delicate spice and a long, textural finish. Harvested in March 2024, the finished wine has an alcohol content of 13.5%.

What the experts say:

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 94/100 5 Stars (2024)
"Gorgeously styled and expressed, the bouquet shows poached pear, lemon peel, Gala apple, and
subtle spice aromas, leading to a succulent palate that's fleshy and flavoursome. Generous yet
structured and harmonious with a lingering, juicy finish."

David Walker Bell, WineFolio, 93/100 (2024)
“A character-filled expression with a delicate balance and enough acidity”
