Two Rivers Tributary Pinot Noir is a bright, savoury-leaning Marlborough Pinot from Brookby Hill in the Southern Valleys. Boysenberry and cherry lead into forest floor, wild thyme and black olive, while the palate has a fine, chalky grip and a focused finish. The 2023 was hand picked, wild fermented with 15% whole bunch, then matured in large French oak cuves, giving the fruit structure without smothering its freshness. It is an appealing choice for Pinot drinkers who like perfume and red fruit with a little earthy complexity rather than simple sweetness. Try it with roast duck, mushroom risotto or pork with herbs.
What the winery says:
The fruit comes from the steep, high-density Brookby Hill Vineyard in Marlborough's Southern Valleys, with windblown loess over clay soils and vines aged 21 years. The vineyard was listed as under organic conversion. A balanced growing season and cool February helped preserve aromatics, energy and structure. The grapes were hand picked and wild fermented with 15% whole bunch, then aged for 10 months in 4,500-litre French oak cuves before bottling unfined and unfiltered. Winery notes highlight boysenberry, cherry, blueberry, forest floor, wild thyme and black olive, with a chalky texture and focused finish.
