Terra Sancta Estate Pinot Noir brings a polished Bannockburn mix of ripe red cherry and plum, savoury spice, liquorice and wild thyme, wrapped in silky tannins and fresh, mineral-edged structure. Most of the fruit comes from some of Terra Sancta's oldest vines in Slapjack Block and Sarah's Block on the estate's Felton Road property, giving this plenty of character without sacrificing elegance. It is concentrated but never cumbersome, with spice and savoury detail carrying through the long finish. A very smart Central Otago Pinot for roast pork, mushroom dishes or a quietly ambitious Sunday dinner.
What the winery says:
The 2024 Estate Pinot Noir is grown on Terra Sancta Estate in Bannockburn, Central Otago, with the majority of fruit sourced from the old vines of Slapjack Block and Sarah's Block. The fruit was picked early to retain natural acidity and freshness, fermented with wild yeast, then matured for 10 months in a combination of barrique and large-format oak. No additives were used, and the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Terra Sancta describes red cherries and plums with nutmeg, chocolate, liquorice root and sandalwood, supported by silky fruit tannins, minerality and a finish of wild thyme and spice.
What the experts say:
Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, 94 Points (2024 Vintage)
“Light, supple pinot noir with ripe berry flavours tinged with floral/violet characters and subtle, spicy notes.”
