Te Mata Estate Sauvignon Blanc is a ripe, energetic Hawke's Bay take on New Zealand's favourite white variety. Lime, gooseberry and blackcurrant mingle with guava and passionfruit, while a subtle flinty note and creamy mid-palate give it extra interest without dulling the fresh, dry finish. Te Mata has made wine in Hawke's Bay since 1896, and this estate-grown bottling offers a particularly approachable introduction to its polished house style. Serve well chilled with ceviche, grilled fish, crunchy summer salads or lightly spiced Thai dishes.

What the winery says

The grapes were harvested from 1 to 14 March 2025 across Te Mata Estate's own vineyards in the Bridge Pā Triangle, Dartmoor and Havelock Hills. After chilling and gentle pressing, the juice was cold-settled and fermented in stainless steel to preserve its aromatic freshness. The wine combines flinty mineral notes with lime juice, blackcurrant, gooseberry, fennel, guava and passionfruit. It is dry, creamy through the middle and finishes with persistent, mouth-watering freshness. Enjoy now or allow it to develop for up to three years from harvest.

What the experts say

James Suckling, 93/100 (2025 Vintage)
"Aromas of melon, pears and lotus flowers follow through to a medium body with crunchy fruit and a crisp and delicious finish. Lots of Meyer lemon character at the end. Bone dry. Bring on the oysters."

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 93/100 (2025 Vintage)
"It's fabulously aromatic on the nose with notes of nectarine, fresh herbs, lemongrass, and lime zest. The palate is equally appealing with excellent vibrancy, fine texture, and bright acidity, making it mouthwatering and instantly appealing."

Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, 94/100 (2025 Vintage)
