Te Kano Life Chardonnay 2021

Te Kano Life Chardonnay brings together the freshness of Northburn fruit with the richer weight of Bannockburn. White peach, pear and melon lead the way, backed by toasted coconut, creamy vanilla, biscuit and a touch of citrus peel. Barrel fermentation and extended lees work give it a generous, silky texture, while bright acidity keeps everything nicely composed rather than wandering into butter bomb territory. Dry, full-bodied and confidently oaked, it is a cracking match for roast chicken, grilled salmon or a creamy mushroom pasta.

What the winery says:

The 2021 Life Chardonnay is made from 100% Chardonnay grown across Te Kano's Central Otago vineyards, with Northburn contributing fine acidity, fresh fruit and mineral character, while Bannockburn brings ripe tropical fruit and mid-palate weight. Individual parcels were hand harvested and whole bunch pressed before barrel fermentation. Extended lees stirring over nine months built texture and complexity before selected barrels were blended in spring. The wine is dry and full-bodied, with white peach, melon, toasted coconut and vanilla aromas followed by peach, pear, spicy oak, brioche and biscuit, finishing with fresh citrus peel.
