Sister's Run Epiphany Shiraz is a generous South Australian Shiraz with plenty of dark-fruited charm, backed by spice, chocolatey richness and a fresh line of acidity that keeps all that flavour moving. Made from 100% Shiraz and sourced from McLaren Vale and the Fleurieu Peninsula, it brings together plush texture, polished tannins and enough savoury lift to stop things getting heavy. The winery traces the fruit to Anthea Pridmore's McLaren Vale vineyard, where the vines produce concentrated berries. A very handy red for peppered barbecue meats, spicy eggplant dishes or a relaxed dinner when something bold and satisfying is called for.
What the winery says:
The 2022 Epiphany is made from Shiraz grown in McLaren Vale, with the winery highlighting the balance between richness and tannin, power and underlying acidity. The resulting style is full and generous while retaining freshness and structure. The winery suggests pairing it with eggplant laksa or barbecued peppered chicken and also recommends putting a few bottles away, with further development expected in the cellar.
What the experts say:
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 94/100 and 5 Stars (2022)
“Opulent and gorgeously complex, the perfumed bouquet shows dark fruit richness, cake spice, toasty oak and dark chocolate characters, leading to a concentrated palate offering excellent depth and plush texture. Tannins are polished and beautifully infused, making it velvety and deliciously appealing. At its best: now to 2037.”
