Seresin Beautiful Chaos Amphora White is a lively, savoury Marlborough orange wine combining Pinot Gris and Riesling with plenty of texture and personality. Peach and mandarin tones meet earthy spice, while extended skin contact brings a firm, chalky grip and a properly dry finish. The fruit comes from Seresin's Raupo Creek vineyard in the Omaka Valley, with amphora playing a central role from fermentation through ageing. Adventurous without becoming hard work, this is a fine match for roast pork, grilled vegetables or gently spiced dishes.

What the winery says:

The 2024 is a 52% Pinot Gris and 48% Riesling blend from Raupo Creek. The two parcels were hand picked, destemmed and fermented separately in amphora with native yeasts, spending 21 days on skins with gentle daily plunging. After pressing, both returned to amphora for three months on lees, completing malolactic fermentation naturally, before being blended in stainless steel for three weeks. It was bottled without stabilisation, fining or filtration, with only a minimal sulphur addition before bottling. The wine is dry at 0g/L residual sugar, 12.5% alcohol, certified organic and biodynamically grown, and suitable for vegans.
