Saint Clair Origin Chardonnay is a generous, fruit-led Marlborough Chardonnay with ripe peach, nectarine and melon at its core, backed by tropical fruit, vanilla and gentle oak spice. The palate is full and rounded, with a creamy texture and enough freshness to keep everything lively through the lingering finish. Part of Saint Clair's Origin range, which pays tribute to the Ibbotson family's first Marlborough vineyards planted in 1978, this is an approachable take on lightly oaked Chardonnay with plenty of flavour. A very handy match for poached or roasted salmon, creamy chicken dishes, or a relaxed dinner at home.

What the winery says:

Fruit for the 2023 was selected from several vineyards in Marlborough's Wairau Valley, with individual parcels chosen to bring balance, complexity and fullness. The wine was partially fermented in seasoned French and American oak barrels, with malolactic fermentation used to build depth and a rounder palate. After nine months of barrel ageing, the parcels were blended for bottling. Saint Clair describes aromas of melon, ripe stone fruit, tropical fruit, vanilla and oak spice, followed by peach, nectarine and spice on a full, creamy palate. Alcohol is 13%, and the wine is vegan friendly.
