Saint Clair Godfrey's Creek Reserve Pinot Gris 2024

Saint Clair Godfrey’s Creek Reserve Pinot Gris is a polished, dry Marlborough Pinot Gris with considerably more depth than the average easy-going pear bomb. Lifted florals, stone fruit and ripe pear lead into yellow apple, gentle spice and a silky, luscious palate, with fresh acidity keeping everything composed through a long finish. The fruit is drawn predominantly from Saint Clair’s estate vineyard in the Waihopai Valley, where stony, sandy-loam soils help build concentration and character. Rich without becoming sweet or heavy, this is very capable company for pork, creamy dishes or fragrant Asian food.

What the winery says:

Fruit is sourced mainly from an estate-owned vineyard in Marlborough’s Waihopai Valley, just east of the Omaka River. The grapes are harvested in the cool of the evening, pressed immediately and fermented in stainless steel, with lees stirring after fermentation adding texture and weight. Pear, stone fruit and florals sit alongside baked pear, yellow apple and subtle spice, finishing dry, silky and persistent. Vegan friendly.
