Ruffino Prosecco DOC NV
Ruffino Prosecco DOC is a lively, refreshing Italian sparkling wine from the historic Ruffino winery, founded in Tuscany in 1877. Produced in Veneto, the heart of Prosecco country, this beautifully approachable bubbly delivers fragrant aromas of crisp green apple, juicy pear and fresh citrus, complemented by delicate white florals and hints of peach. The palate is light, fresh and wonderfully fruity, with fine, persistent bubbles, bright acidity and a clean, refreshing finish. Elegant enough for celebrations yet easygoing enough for a casual afternoon, it's a fantastic aperitif and a natural choice for an Aperol Spritz. Equally delicious alongside fresh seafood, antipasti, pizza or light Italian dishes.
What the winery says:
Ruffino Prosecco DOC is produced from grapes grown in northeastern Italy's Veneto region, where the vineyards feature deep soils rich in rock, sand, clay and iron. The blend comprises 85% Glera, with the remaining 15% made up of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and other complementary varieties. Following pressing, a portion of the grape must is carefully preserved before being blended with the base wine and undergoing secondary fermentation in pressurised tanks using the Charmat method. This process takes approximately one month, preserving the wine's fresh fruit character while developing fine, persistent bubbles. Pale straw yellow in colour, it offers delicate fruit aromas, a lively palate and a juicy, refreshing finish.
What the experts say:
Cameron Douglas MS, 91/100 (NV)
“Inviting, refreshing and fruity bouquet with classic aromas of apples and sweet lemon, a fine lees autolysis quality, pears and a touch of white fleshed tropical fruits. Crisp and dry with a core of fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. The mousse has a softness and acidity carries the white fleshed fruit flavours throughout the palate. There’s a whisper of phenolics back palate stretching the flavours and adding mouthfeel. Balanced, well made and ready to drink from 2023 through 2027”
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 91/100 & 4.5 Stars (NV)
"Beautifully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows ripe apple, apricot and rockmelon characters with a hint of floral overtone. It's succulent and rounded on the palate offering ripe fruit intensity together with juicy acidity, finishing refreshing and lingering"
