Rua Central Otago Pinot Gris is a fragrant, fruit-driven Pinot Gris from Mora's Cairnmuir Vineyard in Bannockburn. Jasmine, white florals, pear, lychee and white nectarine lead into a fresh, rounded palate, with intriguing hints of blackcurrant and nutmeg lingering through the finish. Cool morning harvesting, stainless steel fermentation and three months on lees preserve its aromatics while adding gentle weight and texture.
What the winery says:
The 2024 vintage opens with white floral and jasmine aromas, followed by Angelys pear, lychee and white nectarine. The palate is fresh and full flavoured, with blackcurrant and nutmeg bringing an unusual savoury fruit contrast and a persistent finish. Fruit was harvested from the Cairnmuir Vineyard in Bannockburn, picked early in the morning to retain its aromatics, then pressed, cold settled and fermented in stainless steel. The wine remained on lees for three months before racking and bottling.
