Nugan Third Generation Merlot 2025

Nugan Third Generation Merlot is a smooth, fruit-forward Victorian red loaded with ripe plum, cherry and sweet red berry flavours, backed by touches of dark chocolate, earth, pepper and spice. Silky tannins keep everything supple and easy-going, making this a very approachable Merlot for relaxed dinners, barbecues or a midweek glass. The Third Generation range celebrates the Nugan family's long Australian winemaking story, now spanning more than 80 years. Pour it alongside barbecued lamb, richly seasoned beef or seared tuna Niçoise for a pairing that is a little less obvious, but rather clever.

What the winery says:

The 2025 Merlot was made to preserve its natural fruit character. The grapes were crushed and cold macerated before pressing, followed by a slow, cool fermentation in stainless steel. Selected parcels received American oak treatment before blending and bottling. Deep crimson with youthful purple hues, it offers plum and cherry aromas with earthy, peppery and dark chocolate notes, leading to sweet red berry fruit, spice and a silky tannin finish. The wine is Vegan Australia Certified.
