Nevis Bluff Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is a richly fruited Central Otago Pinot Noir with dark plum, red cherry and bramble at its core, layered with dried herbs, mocha and savoury spice. Fine tannins give the palate shape without getting in the way of the generous fruit, while French oak adds polish and depth. The grapes come from Nevis Bluff's L'Attitude Vineyard in Pisa, giving this a clear single-site identity and plenty of regional character. It is a smart pick for Pinot drinkers who like a little muscle alongside their elegance, and an excellent match for roast duck, lamb or veal.
What the winery says:
Made from 100% Pinot Noir grown at the L'Attitude Vineyard in the Pisa sub-region of Central Otago. Hand-selected fruit was harvested from 2 to 5 April 2024, completely destemmed and barrel fermented before maturation in French oak, with 28% new oak. The wine shows mocha, dark fruit and dried herbs on the nose, followed by Doris plum, red cherry and bramble on a layered palate with fine tannins and a long finish. It is vegan friendly.
What the experts say:
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 95 Points and 5 Stars (2024)
“Gorgeously styled and expressed, the wine shows dark plum, rich floral, thyme, smoked game, and hazelnut aromas on the nose. It's richly weighted with refinement and finesse, wonderfully complemented by velvety texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing splendidly long and satisfying.”
Cameron Douglas MS, 92 Points (2024)
“Aromas and flavours of a very ripe wine with dark skinned fruits from plums to black raspberry then black currant. Additional flavours of clove and baking spices along with a lees and milk chocolate quality emerge as the wine opens out in glass. Dry, balanced, warm and well made with plenty of tannins and acidity for tension and length then a swing back to fruit.”
International Wine Challenge, 95 Points and Gold Medal (2024)
“Deep crimson colour, blueberry and vanilla aromas. Appealing and well-balanced, with layers of succulent wild fruit, but also elegant and complex.”
