94/100 Sam Kim (2024)
Nevis Bluff Single Vineyard Dry Pinot Gris is a polished, dry Central Otago Pinot Gris with plenty of fruit and texture without tipping into heaviness. Poached pear, green rockmelon, Gala apple and lime peel lead into a silky, supple palate with good weight and a persistent finish. The fruit comes entirely from Nevis Bluff's L'Attitude Vineyard in the Pisa sub-region, giving this a genuine single-site story as well as easy drinking appeal. A smart match for lightly spiced Asian or Indian dishes, or pesto pasta when dinner calls for something fresh but comfortably rounded.
What the winery says:
Made by Matt Connell from hand-selected Pinot Gris picked on 8 April 2024 at the L'Attitude Vineyard in Pisa, Central Otago. The fruit was whole bunch pressed, fermented and matured in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation. The finished wine has 13.5% alcohol and 4.27g/L residual sugar, with the winery suggesting up to five years of cellaring. It is also confirmed as vegan friendly.
What the experts say:
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 94 Points, 5 Stars (2024)
“Beautifully composed and styled, showing poached pear, green rockmelon, Gala apple, and lime peel aromas, leading to a succulent palate that's silky and supple. Wonderfully weighted and persistent with delectable flavours. At its best: now to 2030.”
Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, 93 Points (2024)
"Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is voluminous, with aromas of apricot, pear, quince, honeysuckle and spice dusting. Full-bodied, aromas of apricot, pear and quince melded with honeysuckle and crystalised ginger. The mouth-filling palate enriched by a touch of sweetness and alcohol power. Lively acidity provides length and a long, dry finish"
