Mt Monster Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Mt Monster Cabernet Sauvignon is a generous Padthaway Cabernet with plenty of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, backed by fresh mint, dark chocolate and firm but polished tannins. Grown on the Bryson family's vineyard in South Australia's Limestone Coast, it combines ripe fruit weight with the structure and freshness Cabernet drinkers look for. The oak stays nicely in the background, allowing the fruit to do the talking, while the finish remains savoury and composed. A very handy red for roast beef, lamb or a good steak, and one with enough shape to keep Cabernet traditionalists happy.

What the winery says:

The 2022 fruit came from the Bryson family's Padthaway vineyard, where terra rossa soils and a temperate maritime climate help provide a long ripening season. The vintage was predominantly mild and dry, with careful vine balance producing fruit showing strong vibrancy and fruit character. Fermentation took place in static fermenters at controlled temperatures, followed by 7-10 days on skins to build structure and soft, fleshy tannins. French and American oak were used sparingly to retain maximum fruit expression. The finished wine shows blackcurrant, blackberry, sweet berry fruit and fresh mint with a structured, velvety palate.
