Mr Riggs Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml | $4.99 Delivery
Mr Riggs Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon Coonawarra Cabernet with a polished, fragrant side, bringing dark berry fruit, floral lift and classic leafy, herbal notes into a supple, finely structured palate. The 2023 release comes from vineyards in the northern end of Coonawarra, where Cabernet is very much at home. Fine-grained tannins and measured oak keep everything composed rather than heavy, giving this plenty of immediate appeal while leaving room for the cellar. A smart choice for Cabernet drinkers who like regional character without excessive muscle. Bring it out for roast lamb, slow-cooked beef or a good steak.
What the winery says:
The 2023 Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from two vineyards in northern Coonawarra, planted on a mix of terra rossa and sandy loam soils. Fruit was picked from different blocks and fermented separately in 5-tonne open fermenters, with 7 to 10 days on skins before being pressed into oak to complete fermentation. The oak regime included 30% new French oak and 5% American oak. Mr Riggs describes the wine as intensely bright, floral and fragrant, with a soft, flavoursome palate, fine-grained tannins and a balanced finish. The winery suggests drinking it now or cellaring for 8 to 12 years.
