Misty Cove Rock Daisy Pinot Noir 2025
Misty Cove Rock Daisy Pinot Noir takes Marlborough Pinot in a playful, fruit-first direction. Made in a fresh Nouveau style, it is light, juicy and designed to be served lightly chilled, with ripe cherry, raspberry and strawberry compote joined by subtle wild herbs. There is no oak to get in the way, leaving the bright fruit, lively acidity and soft tannins firmly in the spotlight. Named after the native Rock Daisy found on the cliffs of the Marlborough Sounds, this is an easy-going red for warm afternoons, casual dinners and anything from grilled salmon to duck tacos.
What the winery says:
The 2025 Rock Daisy is made from Pinot Noir clones 667 and 777, selected for vibrant fruit and fine tannin structure. It is fermented with a blend of yeasts to enhance aromatics and texture, with no oak maturation, then bottled young to preserve its fresh, juicy character. Misty Cove describes raspberry, cherry, thyme and a touch of lavender, with a soft, silky palate. Serve lightly chilled at around 10 to 12°C, particularly alongside grilled salmon, duck tacos or mildly spicy dishes.
What the experts say:
Cameron Douglas MS, 91 Points, Premium (2025)
“Totally ruby core and rim leads to a bouquet and palate of fresh red cherries and strawberry compote. There’s no oak so this wine is all about fleshy fruity flavours with a backbone of acidity and chalky fruit tannin textures. Well made, still very youthful and with lots of crunch. Best from early 2026 through 2029+.”
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 91 Points, 5 Stars (2025)
"Sweetly fruited and immediately appealing, the bouquet shows ripe cherry, strawberry, subtle spice, and floral aromas. The palate is silky-smooth and beautifully rounded, well-supported by a supple texture and elegant tannins, finishing with a lingering and delightfully appealing aftertaste. At its best: now to 2027"
