Mesta Organic Garnacha 2024

Mesta Organic Garnacha is a juicy, unoaked Spanish red that captures Garnacha's generous fruit without becoming heavy or overly sweet. Organically grown in the high-altitude vineyards of Uclés, it brings together ripe cherry and strawberry with violet, subtle herbs and spice. The medium to full-bodied palate is fleshy and approachable, with gentle tannins, bright freshness and a persistent finish. It is an easy-going alternative to oakier Spanish reds and a versatile match for tapas, grilled meats, tomato-based pasta, braised dishes or anything seasoned with paprika and Mediterranean herbs.

What the winery says:

Bright ruby red in colour, the wine shows expressive aromas of black cherry and strawberry with subtle spice, herbs and floral notes. The palate is juicy and fleshy, with pure fruit, freshness and excellent persistence. The Garnacha comes from organically farmed vineyards in Uclés, Castile, where vines grow at high elevation among mature oak trees. Sunny days encourage ripeness, while cool nights help retain freshness and varietal definition. The grapes were picked at night or early in the morning, then destemmed, lightly crushed and fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel. Eight to ten days of maceration provided balanced colour and structure without excessive extraction. No oak was used.
