Maravedi Tinto A bright, juicy Spanish red built around Tempranillo with a splash of Syrah bringing extra spice and structure. Red cherry, blackberry and cracked pepper lead into a smooth, medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and a fresh, clean finish. The fruit comes from old, dry-farmed organic vineyards in Castile, and the wine sees no oak, keeping the flavours lively and uncomplicated. It is an easy-going red with enough character to keep things interesting, particularly alongside tapas, tomato-based pasta, grilled meats or a relaxed backyard BBQ.
What the winery says:
Maravedi is produced from organically farmed old vineyards in Castile, Spain. Grapes are harvested at night and in the early morning, then quickly transported to the winery for destemming, light crushing and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. Maceration lasts around 8 to 10 days to build colour and gentle structure without excessive extraction. No oak is used, allowing the Tempranillo and Syrah fruit to remain fresh and expressive, with red and black berry flavours, peppery spice, fine tannins and a refreshing finish.
