Luna Estate Chardonnay 2024
Luna Estate Chardonnay is a beautifully fresh and textured Martinborough Chardonnay that captures the elegance of cool-climate winemaking. Crafted entirely from estate-grown fruit, the 2024 vintage offers inviting aromas of green melon, ripe white peach and delicate florals, complemented by subtle notes of toasted nuts and brioche. The palate is lively and generous, with juicy stone fruit flavours, a lovely rounded texture and a crisp, lemony acidity that keeps everything wonderfully balanced. Gentle French oak influence adds complexity without overwhelming the fruit, while a clean mineral edge brings freshness to the finish. A fantastic match for roast chicken, grilled fish, creamy pasta or simply enjoying on its own.
What the winery says:
The 2024 Chardonnay was crafted from 100% estate-grown fruit sourced from Luna's Eclipse and Blue Rock vineyards in Martinborough. Despite a challenging growing season marked by spring frosts and difficult flowering conditions, a hot, dry summer allowed the small crop to ripen beautifully, developing concentrated flavours. All fruit was hand-harvested and gently whole-bunch pressed, with the juice chilled in stainless steel for two days before fermentation in seasoned French oak barrels. The wine spent nine months ageing on lees, followed by two months of conditioning in tank before bottling in February 2025. The result is a fresh, expressive Chardonnay with stone fruit, subtle oak, delicate floral notes and bright citrus acidity.
