Lavau Crozes Hermitage 2020
Lavau Crozes Hermitage is a polished Northern Rhône Syrah with plenty of freshness and charm, this 2020 combines fragrant red berries and floral notes with a smooth, savoury edge and an elegant, balanced palate. The fruit comes from the southern part of Crozes-Hermitage, where Syrah grows on dry, stony plateaux exposed to the Mistral. Maison Lavau has deep roots in Rhône winemaking, and this is a smart introduction to the fresher, more refined side of the variety. Serve it slightly cool alongside grilled lamb, steak, sausages or a hearty mushroom dish.
What the winery says:
Made from 100% Syrah grown on the stony plateaux of southern Crozes-Hermitage. The grapes are fully destemmed before spending around 17 days in temperature-controlled vats, with pumping over used during maceration. The wine is then matured in vat and bottled approximately one year later. Lavau describes it as expressive and elegant, with floral aromas, red berry notes and a fresh palate. Recommended serving temperature is around 16°C, with grilled meat a natural match.
