Lake Road Gisborne Chardonnay 2025
Lake Road Gisborne Chardonnay is ripe, creamy and nicely polished; a Gisborne Chardonnay that brings together white florals, peach and honeydew melon with roasted cashew and gentle oak spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with a smooth texture, fresh balancing acidity and a long, rounded finish. Lake Road is a family-owned New Zealand producer with roots in Gisborne stretching back to its first vineyard plantings in 1975. This is a generous but well-balanced Chardonnay for anyone who enjoys ripe fruit with a measured touch of oak. A natural match for roast chicken, pork or richer seafood dishes.
What the winery says:
The 2025 Chardonnay is made from a single parcel of Gisborne fruit sourced from Ormond Road. It was fermented in French oak barrels and underwent malolactic fermentation to build texture and complexity, followed by maturation in French oak with 25% new barrels. Aromas of white flowers, ripe peach and honeydew melon are joined by roasted cashew and subtle oak spice, leading to a creamy, balanced palate with a long, smooth finish.
