Jip Jip Rocks Cabernet Sauvignon is a generous Padthaway Cabernet with ripe boysenberry and mulberry at its core, backed by cedar, pepper and a broad, smoothly textured palate. The fruit comes from the Bryson family's estate vineyard in South Australia's Padthaway region, where terra rossa soils and a maritime influence help produce Cabernet with plenty of flavour and structure. This is an approachable, full-flavoured red rather than a stern, buttoned-up Cabernet, with ample dark fruit and a long finish. A very handy match for ribeye, roast lamb or a slow-cooked beef dish.

What the winery says:

The Jip Jip Rocks estate vineyard sits in the Padthaway valley, around 300 km south of Adelaide, on terra rossa soils. Warm summer days are moderated by cooling coastal winds, extending the ripening season and helping the fruit develop flavour, colour and tannin. The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep purple, showing boysenberry and mulberry aromas with hints of cedar and pepper, followed by an opulent, textured palate of ripe berry fruit and a lingering finish.

What the experts say:

Beverage Testing Institute, Tastings.com, 92 Points and Gold Medal (2020)
“Garnet black color. Aromas of eucalyptus, strawberry candies, chocolate fudge, and rosemary with a full body and a long leather, cooked and sweetened pomegranate, and bell pepper and coffee bean finish. A broad shouldered and well-structured Cabernet that will pair with a rich meal now as well as develop with cellaring.”
