Hunter's Sauvignon Blanc is a true Marlborough classic from one of the region's pioneering family-owned wineries. First produced in 1982, Hunter's Sauvignon Blanc helped put New Zealand wine on the international map, and the 2025 vintage continues that tradition in impressive style. Bursting with passionfruit, grapefruit, lime and ripe tropical fruit, this is a vibrant, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc with a little more depth and texture than your average Marlborough Savvy. The palate is dry and juicy, with a lovely creamy richness, bright citrus acidity and a fresh, lingering finish. Beautifully balanced and full of character, it's a natural partner for fresh seafood, Thai cuisine, summer salads or simply enjoying well chilled.

What the winery says:

Made entirely from estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from Hunter's Wairau Valley vineyards in Marlborough, the 2025 vintage showcases the region's distinctive aromatic intensity. Following a three-week harvest, the grapes were pressed and the juice settled before fermentation in stainless steel tanks using wild and indigenous yeasts. Extended lees contact adds texture and complexity, giving the wine its characteristic creamy mouthfeel. The palate is dry and saline, with layers of passionfruit, grapefruit and lime, supported by balanced acidity and a concentrated fruit core. Bottled in May 2025, this wine is also certified vegan by the New Zealand Vegetarian Society.

What the experts say:

Cameron Douglas MS, 92/100 (2025)
“A lovely bouquet with an attractive core of ripe citrus and tropical fruits along with floral and soft lees quality adding complexity. Fleshy, fruity, varietal and delicious on the palate, a satin texture, contrasting acid line and a return to the flavours of citrus and tree fruit with a fine tropical quality. Well made with best drinking from 2025 through 2028+.”
