Herringbone Merlot Malbec 2024

Herringbone Merlot Malbec is a plush Hawke's Bay red with plenty of dark-fruited appeal, bringing rich berries and ripe plum together with a gentle touch of vanilla. The palate is full-bodied and smooth, with fine, lingering tannins giving the generous fruit enough shape and structure. Grown on Herringbone's TK Vineyard in the Bridge Pa Triangle, the 2024 blend is actually 60% Merlot, 20% Malbec and 20% Cabernet Franc. It is a very approachable style now, but there is enough structure for the cellar too. A natural partner for roast lamb, steak or smoky barbecue fare.

The fruit was organically grown and hand harvested from Herringbone's TK Vineyard in Hawke's Bay. The blend is 60% Merlot, 20% Malbec and 20% Cabernet Franc, matured for 12 months in French oak after fermentation. Herringbone describes the wine as full-bodied and smooth, with upfront fruit, rich berry and plum flavours, a hint of vanilla and fine tannins providing structure and mouthfeel. The winery suggests it is drinking well now and can also be cellared for up to 15 years.
