Famille Fabre Grande Courtade Rosé comes from a Languedoc estate the same family has farmed since 1605, working an unusual patch of dried-up marshland soil that gives their rosés real freshness. A blend of organic Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir, it's crisp and bone dry, with wild strawberry, cranberry and a touch of watermelon carrying through to a lively, elegant finish. Polished enough for a proper dinner and priced for regular drinking, it's very good buying.

What the winery says

Grown on the south-facing slopes of the Grande Courtade estate near Béziers, this organic rosé blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir from a rare soil of dried marshland over limestone and marl. Made by rapid saignée followed by low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation and no oak, it stays fresh and precise. Pale salmon-pink with wild strawberry, cranberry and a hint of watermelon on the nose, it's crisp and dry with under a gram of residual sugar per litre, and suits everything from grilled fish to a simple charcuterie board.
