Falconhead Hawkes Bay Viognier 2024
Falconhead Hawke's Bay Viognier is a beautifully aromatic, full-flavoured Viognier from Hawke's Bay, bursting with ripe apricot, white peach and delicate floral notes. The palate is rich and silky, with juicy pear, tangerine and lychee flavours complemented by a gentle touch of spice and sweetness. A small splash of Gewürztraminer adds extra fragrance, while subtle oak influence brings a lovely rounded texture. Generous and smooth without feeling heavy, this is a wonderfully approachable alternative to Chardonnay. A great match for roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes or fragrant Asian cuisine, with enough richness and character to enjoy all on its own.
What the winery says:
Sourced from the Tantallon Vineyard in Hawke's Bay's Bridge Pa Triangle, this wine combines 94% Viognier with 6% Gewürztraminer. The grapes were pressed at the Riverview winery and fermented primarily in stainless steel, with a small portion fermented in seasoned oak barrels to build texture. Following maturation and settling, the wine was transferred to the Katikati winery for blending and bottling. The winery describes perfumed white peach and Turkish delight aromas, with pear, tangerine, lychee and gentle spice on the palate.
