Falconhead Hawkes Bay Syrah 2023

Falconhead Hawke's Bay Syrah is a fragrant, fruit-forward Syrah from Hawke's Bay, bringing together ripe raspberry, juicy plum and a lovely twist of ground pepper. Dark berry flavours and a hint of violet follow through on the palate, with subtle oak spice adding another layer of interest. Fine tannins and fresh acidity keep everything balanced, giving this medium-bodied red a smooth, approachable feel without losing its savoury character. Sourced from the Bridge Pa Triangle, it's a versatile Syrah that delivers plenty of flavour without being overly heavy. What the winery says:

Fruit was sourced from the Tantallon Vineyard in Hawke's Bay's Bridge Pa Triangle and fermented in open-top stainless steel vessels using selected yeast strains. Following fermentation and a short period of extended skin contact, the wine was pressed, with a portion matured in oak barrels for 15 months. Final blending and finishing took place at the winery's Katikati facility. The resulting wine offers lifted raspberry, plum and pepper aromas, with dark and red berry flavours, fine tannins and a gentle touch of oak.
