Devils Staircase Pinot Noir 2025

Devils Staircase Pinot Noir is a plush, fruit-led Central Otago red from Rockburn, brimming with black Doris plum, blueberry and dark cherry. Rich and supple on the palate, it carries soft tannins and a long, smooth finish without becoming heavy or overworked. Tank maturation and no oak influence keep the fruit bright, direct and thoroughly drinkable. It is an easy introduction to Central Otago Pinot Noir, but there is enough depth and spice here to reward another glass. Serve it with barbecued lamb, grilled sausages or a relaxed Friday-night dinner.

What the winery says:

Sourced from several Central Otago vineyards, the fruit was harvested between 22 March and 14 April 2025. Fermentation involved 18 to 25 days on skins with rapid, warm ferments, followed by maturation in tank to retain bright fruit and avoid oak influence. The bouquet offers black Doris plums, blueberries and dark cherries, while the palate is very fruity, rich and supple, with soft tannins and a long, smooth finish. Rockburn recommends enjoying it now or cellaring for one to four years, with barbecued meat as the suggested match.
