GOLD MEDAL Concours Bordeaux (2020)
Chateau le Vieux Fort Medoc is a classically styled Bordeaux red with dark berry fruit, subtle mint, roasted notes and a savoury edge. Richly flavoured but firmly structured, it carries the grip and freshness expected from the Medoc, with developing hints of coffee, tobacco and woodland adding complexity. The estate has been guided by the Bergey family since 1925 and sits at Valeyrac, close to the Gironde estuary. A smart match for roast lamb, grilled steak or slow-cooked venison, this is a satisfying choice for drinkers who enjoy traditional claret with depth and backbone.
What the winery says:
The 2020 is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It has a deep ruby colour, aromas of macerated fruit, mint and roasted notes, followed by a rich palate with firm tannins. The structure should continue to soften and integrate with further bottle age.
