Castelmaure Corbieres 2023
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml | $4.99 Delivery
Castelmaure Corbières brings the sunny, savoury character of southern France into an easy-drinking red built from Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Red berry and cherry fruit lead, joined by peppery spice, dried herbs and a touch of stony garrigue, while the palate stays generous, rounded and nicely fresh rather than heavy. Castelmaure is a village cooperative founded in 1921, and its carefully hand-picked fruit gives this everyday Corbières plenty of personality. A very handy bottle for lamb chops, grilled sausages, smoky aubergine or a relaxed Friday-night pizza.
What the winery says:
The Syrah, Grenache and Carignan are hand-picked from rocky limestone and schist slopes in the Corbières, where cooling winds help balance the Mediterranean sun. The wine is described as open and creamy, with red-fruit and spice flavours, mouthwatering freshness and a long finish. Castelmaure's growers harvest entirely by hand, using small crates to protect the bunches on their way to the cellar.
