Cascina Bruciata Langhe Nebbiolo Usignolo is a bright, fragrant take on Piedmont's great red grape, showing rose, cherry and red berry fruit with touches of spice and cocoa. The 2024 is dry and medium-bodied, with fresh acidity and fine Nebbiolo tannin keeping everything lively rather than heavy. Cascina Bruciata is based in Barbaresco and has been part of Marchesi di Barolo since 2016, so there is plenty of serious Piedmont pedigree behind this approachable Langhe bottling. A smart choice for Nebbiolo drinkers who want perfume and structure without waiting years, especially alongside mushroom pasta, roast meats or aged cheese.

What the winery says:

The 2024 Usignolo is made entirely from Nebbiolo. The fruit is fermented spontaneously in stainless steel, with around 12 days of skin contact at approximately 28°C. The resulting wine combines floral and red cherry aromas with notes of nutmeg and cocoa, while the palate is fresh, structured and flowing, with well-defined tannin and a lingering finish. Cascina Bruciata's vineyards are located around Barbaresco, where sandy, calcareous soils and hillside sites provide a natural home for Nebbiolo.
