Bryterlater Ernest Pinot Noir 2023
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml | $4.99 Delivery
Bryterlater Ernest Pinot Noir is a distinctive North Canterbury Pinot Noir with a darker, savoury streak running beneath bright cherry and raspberry fruit. Carbonic fermentation helps lift the aromatics towards maraschino cherry and clove, while mineral notes, sweet-salty liquorice and soft tannins give the palate plenty of personality without weighing it down. Bryterlater, led by winemaker James Graves Opie, takes a thoughtful, minimal intervention approach to its wines, and Ernest feels expressive rather than polished into submission. Silky, supple and a little brooding, it is an excellent match for roast duck, mushroom dishes or a relaxed dinner with Pinot-loving friends.
What the winery says:
The 2023 Ernest is 100% Pinot Noir from North Canterbury. Its style is shaped by a combination of conventional alcoholic fermentation and carbonic fermentation, bringing lifted maraschino cherry and clove aromas alongside raspberry, mineral notes and a sweet-salty liquorice character. The palate is supple and silky, with soft tannins and a darker, brooding edge beneath the fruit.
