Blackenbrook Nelson Gewürztraminer is an expressive Nelson aromatic with jasmine and cardamom leading the charge, backed by a weighty, satisfying palate and an off-dry finish. A fine natural spritz adds a little lift to the generous texture, keeping all that perfume and spice nicely in motion. The fruit comes from Blackenbrook's Home Vineyard on Moutere clay soils, where Gewürztraminer has been planted since the early 2000s. This is a natural partner for fragrant curries or creamy blue cheese, and a very good choice when you want a white with plenty of personality rather than something shy and retiring.

What the winery says:

The 2026 Gewürztraminer comes from Blackenbrook's Home Vineyard, planted between 2002 and 2004 on Moutere clay soils. The fruit was harvested on 21 March at 23 Brix, then gently pressed and cool fermented with aromatic yeast. Fermentation was stopped with 6.3 g/L of natural sugar remaining, giving an off-dry style, followed by lees contact and retention of natural CO₂ for a fine spritz. The finished wine is 13.5% alcohol and was bottled on 23 July 2026. Winemaker Trudy Sheild describes it as weighty and satisfying, with jasmine and cardamom. Blackenbrook is accredited with Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, and the wine is vegan friendly.
