Black Cottage Pinot Gris is a bright, dry Marlborough white with fragrant pear, mandarin and white blossom leading into a juicy, softly rounded palate. A little spice and gentle acidity keep the fruit lively, while its Wairau Valley origin and long, cool stainless steel fermentation help preserve freshness and purity. There is enough texture here to make it more than simply a summer sipper, without losing the easy-going charm that makes Pinot Gris so useful. Chill it down for spicy Thai or Vietnamese dishes, dumplings, white fish, or a relaxed afternoon with good company.
What the winery says:
The 2025 Pinot Gris comes from Marlborough's Wairau Valley, where the vineyards are on alluvial soils. A warm spring was followed by a cool, wet summer, then dry and warm February conditions that helped the fruit ripen with vibrant acidity and concentration. The wine underwent a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel to retain freshness and purity. Expect fresh pear, mandarin and white blossom, a juicy, fleshy palate, subtle spice and delicate lingering acidity. The wine is sustainably grown and vegan friendly.
