Bideona Viura de Cabezadas is a bright, dry Rioja Alavesa white built around predominantly Viura, with fresh stone fruit, white flowers and a clean, lightly mineral finish. The name comes from the "cabezadas", the higher sections of traditional vineyard plots where white varieties were historically planted among reds. Crisp and lively but with enough fruit concentration and texture to keep things interesting, it is a smart choice for anyone keen to explore Rioja beyond red wine. Try it with grilled fish, roast chicken, seafood rice or simply well chilled before dinner.
What the winery says:
The fruit comes from limestone-based Rioja Alavesa vineyards averaging around 30 years of age. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel. After fermentation, one fifth of the wine is matured in new and used 300-litre French oak barrels, adding texture and complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The resulting wine is fresh and subtle, with pure stone-fruit and white-flower aromas, a light, crisp palate, good fruit concentration and a refreshing, dry, slightly mineral finish.
