Sheild is a small, family-founded winery on the schist-laced slopes of Bannockburn, high above the Kawarau River in the heart of Central Otago. The name was chosen not for bravado but for protection, of the land, of vineyard health and of a generational approach to winegrowing that favours slow, patient stewardship over speed, and it reflects a family philosophy built around scale and restraint rather than rapid expansion.

The estate's high-country position brings hot days, cold nights and low rainfall, conditions that concentrate flavour naturally in the fruit without any need for intervention in the vineyard. That site character carries through a range built on a fine Pinot Noir and a fragrant Pinot Meunier Rosé, alongside a textured Chardonnay, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, an aromatic Pinot Gris and a bright Albarino.
