Prosecco Region covers wines produced within the designated area across Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in northeast Italy, where the Glera grape has been grown for generations. Only sparkling wine made here under DOC rules, or the more prestigious DOCG rules for the Valdobbiadene hills, can carry the Prosecco name, setting it apart from imitators produced elsewhere.
