Malana
Malana is produced by Cantolio, a co-operative winery in Manduria, in Italy's southern Puglia region, established in the early 1960s as part of a wider movement of Italian co-operative winemaking, and now numbering more than 700 grower families among its members. Since 2008 the entire winery has run on renewable energy, and its wines have been recognised internationally, including a win at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles wine competition.
The grapes for Malana Primitivo di Manduria are drawn from two distinct sites: inland vineyards on red and black clay soils farmed using the traditional bush-vine method, and coastal plots close to the Ionian Sea, where sea breezes shape the fruit's character. The blend of the two brings together power and Mediterranean freshness in one wine.
