Bryterlater is a small natural wine producer based in Waipara, in North Canterbury, founded in 2019 by Australian winemaker James Opie. The name is drawn from the Nick Drake album Bryter Layter, reflecting a project as interested in music and ideas as in winemaking itself. Working with organically farmed North Canterbury grapes, Opie takes a minimal-intervention approach in the winery, aiming to let each site and vintage show through with little manipulation.

Bryterlater's range centres on natural wine styles, including pét-nat sparkling wines made using the ancestral method, skin-contact Pinot Gris made in an orange-wine style, and rosé built from field blends of North Canterbury fruit. Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir also feature, made with the same low-intervention approach, giving the wines a distinctly hand-made, small-batch character.
