Veuve du Vernay Brut NV

Veuve du Vernay Brut is a bright, easy-going French Blanc de Blancs with fine bubbles and a clean, fruit-led style. Expect peach, apricot and yellow fruit, lifted by white-floral notes and a crisp, balanced finish. The blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche gives it plenty of freshness without turning austere. Produced by Patriarche, the Veuve du Vernay name dates back to the 1960s and has a neat link to the Charmat family. Chill it well for canapés, brunch, fruit tart or any occasion that deserves bubbles without too much ceremony.

This Blanc de Blancs is made from Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche sourced through long-standing partnerships across France's principal vineyard regions. Ageing on lees adds a creamier texture, while the wine shows a pale yellow colour with green hints, numerous fine bubbles and fresh apricot and peach flavours. It is best served chilled at around 8°C as an aperitif or with dessert, and enjoyed within one or two years of purchase.
