Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 375ml Ripe, fresh and generous, this Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc brings passionfruit, grapefruit and mandarin together with green tropical fruit, citrus and a mineral-spiced finish. Babich favours a fuller, softer expression of the variety, so there is plenty of flavour without sacrificing the crisp, juicy energy that makes Marlborough Sauvignon so refreshing. The family has been making New Zealand wine since 1916, and that experience shows in the polished, approachable style. The handy half bottle is just right when opening a full-sized bottle feels excessive. Serve well chilled with oysters, fresh seafood or a sunny afternoon.

What the winery says:

The 2025 is made from Sauvignon Blanc grown across several Marlborough vineyards. The fruit was machine harvested, crushed and de-stemmed, then fermented in stainless-steel tanks at 14 to 18°C using several yeast strains to build flavour and mouthfeel. It spent more than three months on lees before plant-protein fining and filtration. Babich describes an inviting, pungent wine with lantana, passionfruit, grapefruit, mandarin, slate and nettle aromas, followed by tropical fruit, citrus, mineral spice and lime zest. Alcohol is 13.0%, with residual sugar of 3.5 g/L.

What the experts say:

Cameron Douglas MS, 93 Points (2025)
“Always a classic in my book - aromas and flavours of fresh Makrut lime and peach then red apple and tropical fruit highlights. Crisp, crunchy and dry with a salivating and saline palate, backbone of acidity and core flavours that reflect the bouquet. Delicious, fresh and ready to drink form 2025 through 2028.”
