Tuscany Wine

Tuscany sits in central Italy and stands alongside Piedmont as one of the country's two most celebrated wine regions, built primarily around Sangiovese, the grape behind Chianti and countless other classic reds. Beyond Chianti's rolling hills, the coastal Bolgheri area pioneered the Super Tuscan movement in the 1970s, blending Sangiovese with Bordeaux varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to create richer, more international styles outside the traditional DOCG rules. That experimentation continues today, with producers moving freely between classic, food-friendly Chianti and bolder, riper blends built for longer ageing.
