Hunters MiruMiru Vintage Brut 2021

Hunters MiruMiru Vintage Brut is the top rung of Jane Hunter's celebrated Marlborough fizz ladder, made only when the vintage earns it. The 2021 is a Pinot Noir-led blend with Chardonnay and a splash of Pinot Meunier, hand-picked after a cool, frost-touched flowering that trimmed yields but concentrated flavour, then aged on its yeast lees for close to four years before disgorgement. The result is layered and complex: brioche and biscuit notes wrapped around citrus and apple, finishing dry, refreshing and properly elegant in the mouth. It is built for patience as much as celebration, and rewards both.

Hunter's MiruMiru Vintage Brut 2021 is a traditional method sparkling wine blended from Pinot Noir (56%), Chardonnay (30%) and Pinot Meunier (14%), all grown in Marlborough. Handpicked at optimum ripeness following a cool, frost-affected flowering, the wine was fermented in stainless steel, taken through full malolactic fermentation, then aged on its yeast lees for around forty-seven months before disgorgement. Hunter's describes fresh fruit and biscuity aromas on the nose, with layers of brioche, citrus and apple on the finish, showing complexity, balance and a dry, refreshing close.
