Mesta Organic Verdejo 2024
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml
Mesta Organic Verdejo is a crisp, organically grown Spanish white with citrus freshness, herbal lift and a gently saline finish. Made entirely from Verdejo in the high-altitude vineyards of Uclés, it combines lime zest and green melon with fennel and a subtle mineral edge. Stainless steel fermentation and maturation keep the fruit clear and energetic, while bright acidity gives the dry palate plenty of drive. Refreshing and easy to enjoy without feeling simple, it is a smart alternative to Sauvignon Blanc alongside fresh seafood, salads, tapas, grilled chicken or lightly spiced dishes.
What the winery says:
The wine is made from 100% Verdejo grown in certified organic estate vineyards in Uclés, Castile, where 20 to 30-year-old vines grow in loamy clay soils among centuries-old oak trees. Sunny days and cool nights help develop concentrated fruit while preserving freshness and varietal character. The grapes were picked early in the morning, destemmed and given a short cold maceration before pneumatic pressing. Fermentation took place in stainless steel at a cool temperature, with malolactic fermentation prevented to retain acidity. The wine then matured for four to six months in stainless steel before bottling. Lime zest, green melon and fennel lead into a dry, lively palate with a subtle sea-spray character.
What the experts say:
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 91/100 & 4.5 Stars (2024 Vintage)
"It's elegantly expressed on the nose, showing green pear, Gala apple, lemongrass, and oatmeal nuances, followed by a finely flowing palate that's juicy and lively."
